Sea Turtle Foundation’s Education Officer regularly visits schools and kindergartens in the Townsville region to talk about sea turtles and engage students in turtle conservation. School visits usually consists of a 20-30 min talk about sea turtles followed by an outdoor activity or game lasting 20-30 min.
Talks are targeted to the age of the pupils and are interactive and fun. Talks can meet curriculum outcomes if required by pre-arrangement. Topics covered include an exploration of the sea turtle life history as well as specific issues threatening sea turtle survival including marine debris, climate change and habitat change.
Sea Turtle Foundation has created several games that engage students in turtle conservation and allow students to explore the life of a sea turtle in today’s ocean.
