You can help sea turtles by making a bequest to Sea Turtle Foundation in your will. Writing your will means ensuring that everything that is important to you is provided for, and that can include sea turtles and their marine habitats.
Types of Bequests
Please take advice from your solicitor when considering Sea Turtle Foundation for your bequest. To help you with decision making however the following are the most usual forms of bequest from which to choose:
a) Fixed amount – you specify a dollar amount or other form of donation such as property, stocks or shares.
b) Percentage – you specify a percentage of your estate that should come to Sea Turtle Foundation.
c) Residual – what is left of your estate after you have provided for your other beneficiaries.
d) Whole Estate – bequest your entire Estate (this is most fitting for those who do not have beneficiaries to consider or those who wish to cause a significant change).
Wording For Your Bequest
The wording of your bequest is important to ensure that your wishes are fulfilled. Please discuss the correct wording with your solicitor. The following is an example of the text you could use:
I give and bequeath [please specify the nature of your gift] to Sea Turtle Foundation (ABN 61127389619) for its general purposes and declare that the receipt of an executive officer at the time shall be sufficient discharge of my executor’s duty.
